WOYWD 297

Whats on your workdesk 297 is a world wide blog hop and you probably know by now........

This week I have had large swap round, moving my desk from the left side of the room to under the window.  I also decided to get rid of the computer desk and put it on my desks.  It has made a lot more room and the light is a lot better now.   Plug socket is on the wrong place though.  I am going to replace the old curtains with a blind as they are in the way now.

The move has taken up all my spare time.  But these are what I have made since last week

Another half finished page for the DOCUMENTED LIFE PROJECT 2015....again I am stuck, I do find art journaling a challenge, I am good at backgrounds, then well, that's it!
BIRDY tag, I made this super quick before I went to work one day.  The weird birds are drawn.

A bad then exciting thing happened this week.   The clutch went on my daughters old car leaving her stranded on the bypass.  Very expensive, the garage who towed it for us, looked it over for the MOT due this month and it was going to fail that, coupled with the TAX.  £700 - £800 bill was on the horizon.
So she bought this, a brand new i10

From, probably the most handsome man either of us have ever seen!!!
Enjoy your crafting week , may it be rewarding and productive,x,x,x,x,

  • Dusty Concorde
The birds were painted with the same colour inks and water...  The stamps if i remember right are Marion Emberson.

IMMORTAL TAG

Shopping Our Stash    Halloween
Tag Along                   Spiders
City Crafters                A piece of Sky
Try It On Tuesday        spooky
first thing I have made in a very long time, due to work, poorly cars and poorly cats!
Catching up on blog land on my weekend off I see lots of Halloween and spooky type challenges and posts.  I always love the colours and imagination in Halloween makes.  Not so keen on the door knocking though as it sets the dogs of barking!
I have decided to have a go with another tag to add to my huge collection.  Take a look at the challenges above, you may discover a new one, or a new technique on display you may fancy trying.
I have entered this in City Crafters, I have only just found this blog, but the inspiration was a gorgeous picture of  nightsky.  Darker in the top left corner, I went with that scheme for this tag
IMMORTAL
I have very little in the way of Halloween stamps and the one I used here is from Indigoblu  that came out  a few years ago.
I have used a Tim Holtz large Manilla Tag and coloured it with Mustard Seed Distress Ink, Eggplant & Denim Adirondak ink pads.  I have randomly brushed across with a water brush and the two types of ink react very different with water.  The adirondaks turning a nice shade of pink.
A Visible Image stamp set provided the Bats and the Immortal wording.  I also used Glossy Accents to highlight the eyes and the spider and a smattering of Stickles in the sky and water.

AUTUMN SPLENDOR

SIMON WEDNESDAY CHALLENGE  "Tag it"
VINTAGE JOURNEY  "Autumn Colours"
 OLDIE BUT A GOODIE  "Autumn"
CRAFT ROOM CHALLENGE "Forest Friends"

Today has not been the best day of my life, I don't get a lot of time to craft now I have got a job, but today my car engine blew up on the M42 and its only 6year old!
So to keep sane after I had paid £160 for recovery and to avoid thinking about the £2000 I need for a new engine..........I made a tag!

I love autumn colours, especially when the leaves change and stay on the trees.  Beech is my favourite.  The blackberries that the dogs beat me to and the delight in finding a brand new conker every year.  A special time.
I cant remember a lot of what I did here, I was in such a strop!   I have used the wrinkle free distress technique using some Atelier acrylic paint, then embossed the tag when dry.
The flowers & leaves are Heartfelt Creations stamps that I have had a long time and only just used. I coloured these  with Distress Inks.
The toadstool stamp was also having a first use, from a set that I had by "Sheen" over a year ago.   Distress Stickles also feature, I can't leave these alone.
The birds are from the Birds In Flight strip die covered in glossy accents.  I drew the owl freehand.

I love this collection of colours, at a lovely time of year

TAG ALONG WEEKLY  "Faces"

Over at at tag along weekly this week we have one of my favourites at the moment and that is faces.  Each challenge lasts as week with some lovely work on show to browse.

Not a last minute effort to make this time, I did it on Thursday when we had torrential rain and thunderstorms here in Derbyshire.
It has took me until then to take a photo though, very slack

STEAMPUNK INDUSTRIAL TAG

A very late entry here for these two challenged.  This has sat on the desk for a week looking at me to be finished.
Compendium of Curiosities  Challenge 7 Page 46
Tag Along  Steampunk

This tag is made using Tim Holt techniques from his new book Compendium of Curiosities 3, its the INDUSTIRAL TECHNIQUE  I especially like using this material.
I have used the metal foil sheets and embossed them
Then ADIRONDAK PAINTS,  ALCOHOL INKS,  CRACKLE ACCENTS, STICKLES,  all come into the mix

What isn't showing up in the photos is the shine, it is very metallic with a gleam.

What's on your workdesk 269

Click on the link above for some ingenious blog hopping, have a look around the world at what fellow crafters are doing this Wednesday morning.  its interesting!
I was very late in the week visiting for week 268 this was because of the heat and a miserable spell that lasted a few days!

On my desk today............Is a tag that was going to be entered in CC3C and Tag along but It has took me a long time to put it together.   I have kept staring at the middle thinking it needed something but I don't know what.   So there it has sat, looking at me.  That's pretty much it this week with papercrafting.
Bogey got finished
His little stablemate pal is still waiting for more white paint, but I am not in the mood for white at the moment.

Someone asked what I do with them, the horses.  Well I am at that stage as a Model painter when finishwork by me devalues a horse.  If I cant get back what the model cost me in the first place, I refuse to sell at a loss.  Picture below shows what happens then

you end up with a shelf full.... But I don't mind because I love them and it keeps me quiet and my mind occupied.
Enjoy your crafting and blogging and have a good week JillW xxx  I will be dropping round your place very soon.

"Summer Loving" Tag

TAG ALONG WEEKLY *SUMMER COLOURS"
Try it On Tuesday "Summer Colours"
Enjoy making tags?  If you do click the above link and join in with the weekly themes, some lovely, stylish examples on show every week
Summer colours this week and I just happened to have this masterboard hanging that I had made for something else
it didn't quite fit that project, but it did this one
The masterboard was painted with Atelier Interactive acrylic paints, mainly with Yellow and my Favourite colour Quinocrodine Orange. I used it for the base and the large flowers.
For some reason while I was making the tag I kept on singing the Grease song "Summer Loving"....so that's the title!

MEA OMNIA FUGAE

TAG A LONG WEEKLY  natures glory
The theme this week over at tag a long weekly is natures glory, this just means soft lovely colours to me, and lots of them
had this tag finished on the day the challenge came out but only just got round to photographing it.

This is coloured with the only 3 Paperartsy paints I have,
  • zesty zing
  • south pacific
  • orchid
Mixed, they basically give me all I want.
I have started to make some flat journal tags with "whinges" on, you know the ones no one wants to listen to, I have also put them in a foreign language to so no one can read them and think I am strange!
They are held together with a book ring.
I LOVE TAGS     they are perfect for things like this, easy to store as I am running out of wall space now.

AETATEM NOSTRAM

Tag Along Weekly  *quotes*

Theme is quotes and I have got a quote about myself for this one.  Its something that is posing a real problem to me at the moment.....My age  "My age is my Downfall"
I have never had trouble getting a job before but I am now and my age has been mentioned in my last two interview feedbacks!
Its a simple one layer tag, and I think I am going to start a series of these.  Journal tags and then hold them together with a book ring

Off for another interview today at 10.00am, lets see if the same thing happens again!

A BLOW BY BLOW
I love tags, just the right size for me who gets quite daunted by a bigger scale.  I  anything to do with old apothecary and I dream of owning an antique Apothocary chest.  The ones I have found have gone way over my price bracket though......I can dream.

APOTHOCARY BOTTLES

A Tim Holtz manila tag is used here, my photography is rubbish as the tag isn't smaller at the bottom.

  1. Colour the tag with various inks
  2. Run through a embossing folder
  3. stencil parts of the tag
  4. Highlight parts with gilding wax
  5. Embellish
  6. xxxxx
